Kasteel Doorwerth
March 15th, 2010 Posted in Family, TravelsOur neighbourhood friend, Heleen, and her son and husband invited us to join them at the Kasteel Doorwerth. This castle is a restoration of a building that has its origins in the 13th century, but was destroyed during World War II.
I was really impressed with the moat. It’s the first castle we’ve seen with one. There was a man in this old boat tending to these baskets. I’ve still got to find out what they are for. I thought the images of the water, boat, and baskets were quite painterly.
Enjoy!

As far as I know, these baskets are nesting places for ducks!
